Role Summary/Purpose: The General Manager, Marketing, Clinical Business Solutions (GM Marketing) is responsible for global marketing strategy, market requirements, product & solution positioning, competitive intelligence, segmentation, pricing, lead generation, product launches, marketing programs, advertising, and events, for a $500M division of GE Healthcare IT. The GM Marketing will manage an organization with approximately 20 direct reports and an additional 15 indirect reports.
Essential Responsibilities: The GM Marketing will report to Justin Steinman, Chief Marketing Officer, Healthcare IT, and to Jon Zimmerman, Vice President and General Manager, Clinical Business Solutions.

A critical component of the GM Marketing role will be to partner with the business unit General Manager (Jon Zimmerman) to develop a winning business strategy for CBS that takes into account current and future market conditions to predict where the market will go, so that GE Healthcare IT can build the next generation of financial management and care delivery IT solutions. The GM Marketing must be able to leverage his/her deep healthcare industry domain to develop these recommendations.

The GM Marketing will also work closely with GE Healthcare corporate marketing, market research, product management, sales, product development, and the regional marketing teams to drive results and market presence for the business. He/She will create an integrated business-wide marketing strategy and related programs.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
Be a true business partner to senior management, sales, and central marketing.
Develop a winning business strategy by leveraging market insight and foresight.
Partner with the business unit GM and business development team on M&A opportunities.
Advise the business unit on market conditions, requirements and customer needs for both healthcare providers and payers.
Be a proactive force in helping the organization position itself to grow revenue profitably.
Instill marketing principles, discipline, and accountability throughout the organization.
Ensure an effective go-to-market strategy, including product launches.
Develop the organization’s capabilities in market requirements, market plans, product/solution positioning, competitive intelligence, segmentation, pricing, and lead generation.
Communicate the business’ strategy and vision internally and externally.
Optimize operational marketing processes.
Assist in driving revenue growth through lead generation and partnership with the field marketing team.
Manage a dedicated, results-oriented marketing team. Evaluate the team continuously to create a team that is appropriate to the business challenges.
Help continue to create a climate that is conducive to attracting, retaining, and motivating a diverse group of top-quality employees at all levels.

Critical First Year Deliverables
Develop a comprehensive business strategy that includes organic and inorganic growth opportunities in both healthcare provider and payer markets.
Develop a marketing strategy that aligns with and enhances the business unit’s overall strategy and business objectives.
Imbue marketing principles throughout the business and serve as a marketing “coach” to the leadership team.
Build capability, including processes, infrastructure, and talent in marketing intelligence, segmentation, lead generation and validation, and pricing.
Develop processes and tools to ensure seamless go-to-market activities, product launches, and marketing programs.
Continue to drive a results- and metrics-oriented approach to marketing within the unit.
Collaborate with the business, product, and sales leaders to ensure product investment decisions, positioning, selling, and servicing are closely aligned.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Undergraduate degree required with an advanced degree a plus.

- 7+ years’ experience managing a global product marketing team within a healthcare business.

- Experience with strategy and business planning within a healthcare organization

- Demonstrated track record of launching successful products to market

Desired Characteristics: Preferred Experience The ideal candidate will be a marketing leader in a large, global healthcare company, with experience marketing software or technology. He/She will understand how to leverage marketing to drive growth in market share, sales, customer satisfaction, and operating margins. Specifically, the GM Marketing will possess:
- Experience leading business strategy and go-to-market activities for a global healthcare company. Ideally, he/she will have knowledge of the software industry, with knowledge of healthcare financial workflows as a significant plus.
- A proven track record of designing winning business plans.
- Deep healthcare industry experience, with relationships to thought leaders at both provider and payer organizations.
- Commercialization experience with a focus on building market awareness, go-to-market strategy and execution.
- An ability to synthesize complex issues and communicate into simple messages.
- Hands-on experience developing and deploying processes, tools, and metrics to drive marketing accountability, transparency, and results.
- A best practices mentality and ability to incorporate best practices into the marketing organization.
- Business and financial acumen.

He/she must be solutions-oriented and able to create and communicate a vision, achieve necessary buy-in, keep people informed, and execute a plan. He/she must be very bright and analytical and have the utmost integrity.
